The Climate Reality Project Northern Virginia Chapter “Ferocious Felines” team raised $5,323.41, exceeding their goal of $5,000, for the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) Keep Winter Cold Polar Plunge. In addition to supporting CCAN, funds will be used to support Fairfax County’s Get2Green initiative at Centre Ridge Elementary School. Video of the event can be seen on the chapter web site

I joined the Fairfax 350 / Fairfax Climate Watch Team for the 2014 “Keep Winter Cold” Polar Bear Plunge sponsored by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN). This event will take place on January 25, 2014 at the National Harbor. Show your support by making a donation — or by joining our team!

The annual “Keep Winter Cold” Polar Bear Plunge is the Chesapeake Climate Action Network’s priority grassroots fundraising event — powering our victories to move Maryland, Virginia and DC off of planet-heating fossil fuels and to clean energy.

Once a year, activists, friends and families in the MD/DC/VA region demonstrate their commitment to combat climate change by taking a quick dip into the icy Potomac River at National Harbor.
